Penalty should be steep for those who price gouge

I read in The Vicksburg Post about the two arrested for price gouging. They inflated the price of their motel rooms because of the bad weather. Also, I understand this is the second time for the same violation. Now what? I guess just another light slap on the hand and right back to business as usual. I most surely hope not.
These people are given opportunities found nowhere else in the world. They get tax breaks and other goodies that natural born citizens are not entitled to. Seems we are penalized for being born here. To me, that seems kind of backward.
They show their appreciation by taking advantage of an emergency and charge inflated prices for motel rooms. Times like this is when prices should be reduced. That would be a good way to give back to the people who have given so much to them, but they choose to de dishonest, and that tells who and what they really are.
They like to steal from people who are in trouble. Gouging is just another way of stealing and should be treated as such. If they are found guilty, I feel they have forfeited their right to remain in this country. They should be sent home to whereever it is they came from. They should be made to pay for their own one-way ticket and charged double price for it, never to return. I mean goodbye forever.
Also, I want to thank you for your editorial on the hiring of public relations employees by the school district. It was right on the money. I had been going to write on the same thing, but felt you have covered it much better.
