SHORING UP THE MISSION

A trackhoe is used by City of Vicksburg Street Department employees this morning to remove dirt from a bluff on Mission 66. Department Superintendent Skipper Whittington said workers will be at the site for most of today and possibly Tuesday. Traffic was taken down to one lane in both directions until the work is complete. “We are trying to safe up the hill to keep dirt from falling into the road,” he said. A heavy rain last week sent mud sliding onto the major north-south thoroughfare twice.
