Chocolate, art on tap at SCHC
The Southern Cultural Heritage Center is gearing up for a chocolate-filled evening and a traveling art exhibit.
The SCHC’s third annual Chocolate Affair is set for 7 p.m. May 5. The event will include desserts, drinks and entertainment by local pianist Jim Robinson and singer Maria Signa.
Admission is $25 for SCHF members and $30 for nonmembers. Tickets are required, and may be purchased at the SCHC or Paper Plus starting Friday.
Ticket holders will receive a 10 percent dinner discount the evening of the event at Anchuca, Cedar Grove Mansion Inn & Restaurant, Monsour’s at the Biscuit Company and Roca.
On April 25, pianist Jonathan Levin will present a concert and class at 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will be taken.
Levin attended the Manhattan School of Music and has a master’s degree from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. His appearance is sponsored by the Fort St. Pierre Chapter of the Mississippi Society Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, the Natchez Music Festival and the Vicksburg Music Teachers Association.
On April 26, the SCHC will kick off a traveling show by the Mississippi Art Colony. The works will be on display through May 27, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays or by appointment.
An opening reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. April 26.
