Alligator hunting OK in some areas

Published 11:35 am Friday, June 3, 2011

Claiborne, Sharkey and Issaquena are among 24 counties where alligator hunting vouchers will be valid for private lands season, which began this week and runs through July 1.

Private lands within the open counties must contain at least 20 acres of privately owned surface water to qualify for an alligator harvest voucher.

Each property is limited to one application and all private land applications require special documentation and the landowner’s permission.
