Lily Fairchild Boyd

UTICA — Lily Fairchild Boyd died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at the Oasis Nursing Home in Yazoo City. She was 93.

A native of Wascum, Texas, she had lived most of her life in the Utica-Learned area. She was formerly employed at Strong’s Department Store in Utica. For the past five years, she had been living in Yazoo City.

She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church for more than 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Dick” Boyd; two sisters, Dorothy McCay and Lois Fair-child; and two brothers, Don Ray Fairchild and Robert Fairchild.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy “Dot” Jones of Flora; two sons, Don Ray Boyd of Terry and Larry Boyd of Utica; one brother, Billy Floyd Fairchild of Bolton; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica. Visitation will be at the church from noon until the service.

Pallbearers will be Brad Boyd, Robbie Boyd, Brad Harris, Jeff Jones, Scott Jones and Spence Shepherd.
