RAYMOND — Marie Antoinette “Nettie” Brent Strong, 95, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Raymond. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 7 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home of Raymond and tomorrow one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Raymond City Cemetery.
Mrs. Strong was a native and longtime resident of Raymond. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson where she was married. Later she moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Raymond where she served as a leader in Sunday School, Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), Girl’s Auxiliary (GAs), and Vacation Bible School. She also served her community by being on the Board of Trustees of Hinds County Schools and was president of the PTA at Raymond High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Strong; six brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three children, Beth Martin of Byram, Mimsie Nail (Mike) of Raymond and Jeff Strong (Linda) of Vicksburg; five grandchildren, Brent Martin, Chris Pugh, Jeff Mac Strong, Blake Strong and Lexie Strong; and four great-grandchildren, Britney, Drew, Bethany and Christian.
