EDWARDS — Services for Johnnie Ruth Singleton will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neil officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with family present from 5 until 6.
Mrs. Singleton died Friday, March 20, 2009, at her home in Edwards. She was 76.
She was a homemaker and member of Mount Moriah M.B. Church, where she was in the choir.
She was preceded in death by two sons, James Singleton and Roosevelt Singleton; two sisters, May Byrd Payne and Baby Ruth Turner; and four brothers, Willie Turner, Arthur Lee Turner, Lewis Turner and Eddie Earl Turner.
Survivors include three sons, D.Y. Singleton of Chicago and Donnie Singleton and Michael Singleton, both of Edwards; three daughters, Willie Nichols of Chicago, Clementine Singleton of Gary, Ind., and Janice Foster of Jackson; four sisters, Myrtist Wright and Georgia Jones, both of Edwards, Dorothy England of Vicksburg and Mattie Williams of Champaign, Ill.; three brothers, Alex Turner of Yazoo City, Robert Turner of Hampshire, Ill., and Ellis Turner of Edwards; and nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives, including John Nichols.
