County home damaged in blaze

A kitchen fire Friday morning caused structural damage to a Warren County home.
Firefighters from Culkin and Northeast volunteer fire departments responded around 11 a.m. to 828 Wells Road, said Kelly Worthy, coordinator of volunteer fire departments.
The owner of the home, Raymond Scallions, attempted to put out the blaze and suffered minor smoke inhalation not requiring treatment, Worthy said. No one else was home.
Damage was limited to the stove, cabinets and kitchen walls.
Cash, weapons missing in city
Cash and guns were reported missing in auto and residential burglaries in the city Thursday, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.
A residence in the 900 block of Polk Street was burglarized at 2 p.m, with $900 reported missing.
A 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 100 block of McAuley Drive was reported burglarized at 3:05 p.m. Missing was a Chanel purse valued at $150 containing $1,350 and personal items. Also missing were a .38-caliber handgun valued at $395 and a .22-caliber handgun valued at $150.
City man jailed on DUI charge
A Vicksburg man was arrested by police after his vehicle veered off the road into a ditch near Cain Ridge Road and Rhodes Drive Thursday night.
Ingram Sparks, 22, 313 Cain Ridge Road, was charged with DUI third-offense, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.
Sparks was in the Warren County Jail Friday on $5,000 bond, Stewart said.
Bible among missing items
A Bible and Sunday school materials were among items reported stolen at 3:18 p.m. Thursday from a vehicle parked at River Region Medical Center, 2100 U.S. 61 North.
A tote bag containing the items and other books were stolen from a 2000 Crown Victoria, Warren County Jail records said.
