The event will kick off at 9 a.m. Nov. 14. Chili will be served at noon, followed by judging at 2 p.m. by a panel of three or four.
“Usually, once a year, we do a community project to show our appreciation for the community,” said Debbie Dolan of Vicksburg Cycles, a motorcycle and ATV dealership on North Frontage Road. “We wanted to do something before the Christmas holiday, and the children’s shelter is something we wanted to do.”
The entry fee is $25 per team, and participants can cook as much chili as they want. Food can be made in advance or on site. Participants must bring their own equipment.
“If you make it hot, hot, hot, you have to warn people,” Dolan said. “If you use peanut oil or any other allergens, you have to warn people.”
Children’s activities will be available. Admission to the cook-off is $5 per person and includes a bowl, spoon and two drink tickets.
“Make some chili and come on,” Dolan said.
