John D. Garnett Jr. died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Promise Hospital. He was 81.

Mr. Garnett was a Warren County native and was the son of the late John D. and Irma Boell. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station, Soils Division. He was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Garnett; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include two brothers, Billy Boell of Calhoun City and Larry Boell of Jackson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Dural Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be James Harper Sr., Othel Mendrop, Buford Evans, Jimmy McCaskill, Hiram Haney and Brian Haney.

Honorary pallbearers will be James May, Terry Jeffers and Gordon Stevens.
