One bullet hit Danny Miller on Easter evening, killing the 25-year-old and ending an argument over a $10 bottle of whiskey, police said.

Adam Rader, also 25, of 103 Cross Drive, was arrested at the scene and charged with the second homicide in the city this year.

Two other men were taken into custody, one charged with interfering with police at the scene and the other accused of jumping on an officer.

Miller’s address was 106 Belva Drive, which is in south Vicksburg, Cross Drive is off Dana Road in Warren County, but the men were in a group that had gathered at a home in the 1400 block of Oakland Street, near the railroad crossing at Baldwin Ferry Road and Court Street.

Police responded at 7:18 p.m. and said several gunshots were fired. Only one hit Miller, said Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene. An autopsy was ordered.

Miller had left the gathering and was followed by a group to the rail crossing, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The additional arrests were of Derrick Turner, 24, and his brother, Eric Turner, 26, both of 401 Pleasant Valley Drive.

The younger Turner was charged with accessory after the fact for interference, Stewart said, adding the older Turner “intervened in his brother’s arrest” by knocking Patrolman James Whittington to the ground. Whittington did not require medical attention, Stewart said.

Rader and Derrick Turner were being held without bond in the Warren County Jail, pending arraignment. Bond was set at $50,000 for Eric Turner for assault on a police officer.

Miller’s funeral will be under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

In March, three teens were arrested on an array of charges stemming from the shooting death of Antonio Turner, 25, who resided at 404 Ashwood, and was killed on Alcorn Drive. Police have theorized that killing was gang-related, while gangs are not suspected in Sunday’s incident on Oakland Street. There was no indication the Turners arrested Sunday were related to the March homicide victim.
