City man jailed on charge of felony malicious mischief

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County jail Saturday night accused of felony malicious mischief.
Calvin White, 49, 75 Williams St., was arrested at 12:24 a.m. Saturday after he was found asleep in a parked car on Jackson Lane near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Lt. Davey Barnette said.
Barnette said after an identity check, White was found to have a warrant for his arrest for felony malicious mischief.
Details of the warrant were unavailable.
White was held without bond.
Fire destroys home on South Street
A Vicksburg family of three was sheltered at a local hotel Saturday after a Friday night fire destroyed their South Street home.
No injuries were reported.
Lt. Davey Barnette of the Vicksburg Police Department said only one of the three family members was home at the time of the fire reported at 7:49 p.m. at 1409 South St.
He said Joseph Green, 24, told police officers he ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911 after smelling smoke in the home he shared with Brenda Green, 48, and Jerimaee Green, 26. Barnette said the cause of the fire was unknown, and a Vicksburg Fire Department report was not available Friday night or Saturday.
The fire and smoke were broght under control about 45 minutes after the report.
The Vicksburg chapter of the American Red Cross provided the family with shelter.
