PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — An agent for rookie linebacker Tony Fein says the Iraq War veteran and member of the Baltimore Ravens during the preseason has died in Washington state.
Agent Milton D. Hobbs told The Baltimore Sun that Fein died Tuesday in Port Orchard, Wash., but he had no immediate details about his death.
The 27-year-old undrafted rookie free agent was released by the Ravens in their final major cutdown on Sept. 5. In two seasons at Ole Miss, Fein had 136 tackles (77 solo) in 24 games, according to the Ravens Web site.
Fein was arrested on Aug. 23 and charged with misdemeanor assault on a police officer after an incident at a restaurant at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Fein said he was innocent.
Hobbs says Fein, a native of Port Orchard, was working out there while awaiting another shot at playing football.
