Storm topples trees

Entergy serviceman Keith Brumfield grounds a downed power line on Bellaire Drive Thursday afternoon so the Vicksburg Street Department could remove one of about 10 fallen trees across the county. Storm damage left 284 Entergy customers in Vicksburg, Bovina and Port Gibson without power, said Entergy spokesman Don Arnold. Rainfall was recorded at 0.25 of an inch at the city’s water plant at the Vicksburg harbor. Across the state, a tornado reported in Olive Branch destroyed several homes and damaged others. No injuries were reported. (Katie Carter*The Vicksburg Post)
