Plenty of pooches

Paws Rescue wants to thank the community for such overwhelming enthusiasm in helping homeless animals by coming out and supporting Paws Rescue’s sixth annual Spooky Pooch contest at the Outlets at Vicksburg. We also want to express our sincere appreciation to the Outlets at Vicksburg for hosting the event and providing prizes and decorations and all of the fantastic volunteers.
There were 39 dogs that participated in the contest and more than 100 individuals in attendance. Paws Rescue tried to ensure everyone had a wonderful time by providing entertainment and information on animal welfare issues.
Because of such strong public support so far this year, 51 animals have been adopted through Paws Rescue, while 237 dogs and cats have been neutered and provided medical care. Paws Rescue has 20 pets available for adoption.
We are committed to working toward a time when Vicksburg and Warren County has no more homeless animals.

Lunch concerts a hit
The second annual Classics in the Courtyard was a wonderful success. Much gratitude is extended to our sponsors, Entergy and MY Hospitality Services.
We are grateful to the caterers: Juke Joint Restaurant, Martin’s at Midtown, Goldie’s Express and Palmertree Catering. The entertainment provided by Reid Bishop, Jim Robinson, Maria Adona, Lee H. Abraham, Daniel Boone, Kenny Boone, Patrick Smith, and Julia and Nicolas Blake was enjoyed by everyone.
Thanks also go to Ameristar Casino, AmeriCorps volunteers, Mary Beth Lasseter, Joel Stroud, The Vicksburg Post and all the participants who attended the wonderful programs.
We so enjoyed presenting the four-week lunch and concert series and feel this event will continue to grow each year with the support of our community. We look forward to planning this fabulous event in the fall of 2010.
