Dollie Clara Duncan

Mrs. Dollie Clara Duncan departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009. She was 95 and had lived in Vicksburg for 70 years. Her health had been declining for several years but she was still living at home. She was born on July 22, 1914, in Hickman County, Tenn., to Archie Peeler and Nellie DePriest Peeler.

She married Albert R. Duncan of Centerville, Tenn., on June 26, 1930. They moved in 1938 to Vicksburg where Mr. Duncan was employed by the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers until he retired in 1973.

Mrs. Duncan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vicksburg and the Eastern Star. She sold World Book Encyclopedias for over 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away on March 18, 2003; her parents; and two sisters, Lou Hester Peeler and Wylodean P. Totty.

Survivors include her two sons, Albert R. Duncan Jr. and his wife, Cathy, and Jerry P. Duncan and his wife, Ava, of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Duncan and his wife, Misty, and Diane Duncan Hargon and her husband, Josh; and four great-grandchildren, Ashten Duncan, Chelsey Duncan, Marlie Hargon and Hannah Hargon.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Lucius Dabney, George Downing, Josh Hargon, Walter Hallberg Jr., Richard Hallberg and Walter Hallberg III.
