A Vicksburg man released on bond Wednesday was charged with a shooting two months ago that left another man in a Jackson hospital.

Kevin Buck, 24, 20 Waterwell Road, is accused of shooting Terry Brown, 35, 609 Kings Crossing, once after a fight at a cookout June 22 at 605 Hutson St., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. Buck is accused of leaving the house, retrieving a shotgun and returning to shoot Brown, Stewart said.

He had remained on the run until Wednesday when “officers spotted him and he ran again,” Stewart said. He was arrested after officers spotted him at about 4 p.m. in a ditch at Kings Crossing and Curry Street.

After the shooting, Brown was taken to River Region Medical Center and transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson, where he stayed for a few days, being treated for multiple pellet injuries, Stewart said.

Buck was released from the Warren County Jail on $75,000 bond.

Games, radio missing in city burglaries

A video game console, video games and a radio were reported missing in Vicksburg Wednesday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A PlayStation 3 valued at $200 and three PlayStation video games valued at $40 each were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of James Court at 8:41 a.m.

A Samsung DVD/CD radio valued at $690 was reported stolen from a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban in the 3000 block of Wisconsin Avenue at 12:19 that afternoon.

 

City woman injured in one-car wreck

A Vicksburg woman was injured in a one-car accident at Harrison and Martha streets at 9:46 a.m. Tuesday.

Marquilia Parker, 25, 1709 Martha St., was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

 

Fire destroys home on Nailor Road

Two Warren County people suffered smoke inhalation early this morning as a fire destroyed their home.

Tommy Alexander and Glenda Busby, both of 4813 Nailor Road Lot 30, reported the fire at their mobile home at Payne’s Trailer Park just before 3.

“The fire was accidental, but it was a total loss,” said Kelly Worthy, Warren County volunteer fire coordinator.

Trucks from Fisher Ferry, LeTourneau and Culkin volunteer fire departments arrived at 2:52 a.m. and had the flames under control by 3:45 a.m., Worthy said.

The departments stayed until 5:22 a.m. “to make sure there were no hot spots,” Worthy said. “It was contained to the house.”

A spokesman for River Region Medical Center said he had no record of the two being treated at the hospital.
