Army Reserve Sgt. Jerry L. Stampley has returned to the U.S. after a deployment to the Iraqi Theater of Operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. A mechanic with 17 years of military service, he is normally assigned to the 894th Quartermaster Company, Jackson.

He is the son of Jerry and Eva Stampley of Vicksburg.

Air Force 1st Lt. Jonathan Wing has received the 2008 Team Eglin Engineering and Technical Management Award, Company Grade Officer Engineer Category. He helped lead the development of war-fighter capabilities, assisted in developing a micro air weapon and has developed a platform-independent micro vehicle deployment system.

The son of Joy Wing, he is a micro munitions engineer assigned to the 96th Air Base Wing at Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, Fla. He is a graduate of Warren Central High School and Mississippi State University.
