George L. Regan Jr

George L. “Haji” Regan Jr. died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 37.

Born in Warren County, Mr. Regan was a machine operator at International Paper’s Vicksburg Mill. He graduated in 1991 from Vicksburg High School and attended Mary Holmes Junior College in West Point.

He served in Iraq in the Marine Corps and was a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Braxton Hearron and Rosie Lee “Toot” Buchanan; and his paternal grandparents, Ernest Regan Sr. and Julia M. Warren Regan.

Survivors include two sons, Shakori Regan and Brandon Regan, both of Vicksburg; his father and stepmother, George L. Sr. and Virginia Jones Regan of Vicksburg; his mother and stepfather, Charlie Jr. and Brenda Hearron Martin of Vicksburg; two brothers, Julian D. Martin of Atlanta and Gary S. Buchanan of Houston, Texas; six sisters, Fantessa Clinton of Jackson, Maranda Rufus of Raymond, Brenda Martin of Vicksburg, Jimmie Regan of Atlanta, Sheba Waterford of Cierra Vista, Ariz., and Shelia Lane of Nashville; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
