Shirley Clotile Perritt Wood

Shirley Clotile Perritt Wood died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 73.
Mrs. Wood was born in Newellton. She had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1969. She was a graduate of the Sisters of Mercy School of Nursing. She was employed for a number of years at the Mercy Hospital. She also worked a number of years with Home Health. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Wood; her parents, Stacy and Chloe Perritt; and a sister, Anne C. Owen.
Survivors include a son, Charles R. Wood Jr. and his wife, Emma, of Vicksburg; three daughters, Cheryl W. Thrash and her husband, David, of Vicksburg, Sonya K. Wood of Vicksburg and Teresa W. York and her husband, Jeff, of Pensacola; her brother, Allan Perritt of St. Joesph, La.; her sister, Pat Moore of Clinton, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Heidi Gregory, Denton Stokes, Heather Burns, Brandi York, Holly Thrash, Charles Garrett York, Jordan Thrash and Jenni York; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Wheelock, Madeline Stokes and Cade Gregory.
Services will be at 2 today at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at 4 at Legion Cemetery in Newellton. Visitation will be from 1 until the hour of the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jeff York, Charles Garrett York, David Thrash, Denton Stokes, Cleve Burns, Mark Gregory and Chris Snow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Runnels, Dr. Walter Johnston Jr. and Dr. Anita Tribble.
