LONGVIEW, Texas — Memorial services for Allan Alex Hintson Jr., 71, of Longview, Texas, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, with Rev. David English officiating. Mr. Hintson died on Thursday at a local medical center after a long and courageous battle with complications following surgery.

Mr. Hintson was born Oct. 23, 1937, in Vicksburg, to Allan A. and Annie Little Hintson. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends and family. Allan was tenacious and had a keen sense of humor. His quiet strength was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a “Southern Gentleman” and will be truly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Hintson of Longview; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jody Hintson of Longview; sister, Sara Marks of Rancho Mirage, Cal.; sons, Shannon Freedle of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Patrick Freedle and Bo Freedle, both of Kerrville, Tex.; daughter, Kelly Pettus of Bessemer, Ala.; stepsons, David Taylor of Denton, Tex., Wesley Taylor and spouse, Jennifer, of Searcy, Ark.; step-daughter, Karen Taylor of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Ian Roe and Ashley Taylor.

Memorials may be made to the Highway 80 Rescue Mission, 3117 W. Marshall Avenue, Longview, Texas, 75604.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
