FAYETTE — Lorraine Barefield Banks died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital. She was 77.

Mrs. Banks was born in Jefferson County. She was retired from the Mississippi Department of Health as a custodian and was a member of Locust Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Barefield Jr. and Warrie Crosley.

Survivors include her husband, Benard Banks Sr., of Fayette; two sons, George Banks Sr., of Destrehan, La., and Bernard Banks Jr. of Vicksburg; four daughters, Dr. Brenda Banks, of Columbus, Ohio, Joyce Banks Shepherd, Shirley Banks and Carolyn Banks, all of Fayette; one sister, Doris Morris of Memphis; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Jesse Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation will be today from noon until 6 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home.
