PORT GIBSON — Bobbie Johnson Walker-Young died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at her home. She was 61.

Mrs. Young was a graduate of Jackson State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as organist and choir president and was a member of the Pace Setters Club. She was a member and worthy matron of Port Heron Chapter 166A of Eastern Stars, vice president of Alcorn alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Johnson; and a granddaughter, Dierra J. Young.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Curtis Young of Port Gibson; a son, Charlie Walker Jr. of Jackson; three daughters, LeCourtney Harness of Baton Rogue, LaTasha Young of Port Gibson and LaNetrice Harper of Jackson; two stepsons, LaKarl Young of Los Angeles and Myron Young of Fayette; two brothers, Andrew Johnson and Eddie Lee Johnson, both of Pattison; three sisters, Gertrude Johnson of Jackson, Sherrie Maxine Walker of London, England, and Lillie Wells of Pattison; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at A.W. Watson Elementary School Gymnasium in Port Gibson with the Rev. James Dorsey, officiating. Burial will follow at the Pattison Community Cemetery in Pattison. Visitation will be today from 1 until 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson. The Eastern Star Ritual will be from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m., an Omega Omega Ceremony by Alcorn alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. and family hour from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m., all at First Baptist Church in Port Gibson. Visitation is Saturday from noon until the hour of the service at the school.
