General manager Jimmy Clark of The Vicksburg Post has been selected as the winner of the President’s Award for the Mississippi Press Association.
The award is given annually to the association member “who has been the most helpful during the president’s administration,” said MPA Foundation Coordinator Beth Boone. The president this year, Sea Coast Echo publisher Randy Ponder, said in presenting the award during the organization’s meeting in Biloxi last week that Clark was chosen because of his assistance in planning and organizing the Ark-La-Miss Circulation Conference, which has been in Vicksburg seven times, including consecutively for the past five years.
Clark is a member of the board of directors of MPA and vice president of the daily newspaper division. He previously was treasurer of the state media organization and is in line to be president in 2012-2013.
Clark came to the Post as director of the Circulation Department in 1997 and has been general manager since 2002. The Clinton native has spent 30 years in the newspaper business, in Jackson, Biloxi, Hattiesburg and Pascagoula. He came to Vicksburg from the Sun Herald.
He and his wife, Joanne, have three daughters and four grandchildren.
