South Street between First North and Farmer will be closed to traffic through Wednesday following a sewer pipe failure.

The blowout caused a small but deep hole in the center of the street, one of several bricked streets in Vicksburg’s historic district. Workers at the site said the hole is about 14 feet deep.

Public Works Director Bubba Rainer said repair crews were to arrive today.
