The Ashmead Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, is inviting the public to join them on the lawn of the Old Court House Museum on Thursday at 4 p.m. to mark the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution with a ringing of the courthouse bell.
The ringing will be followed by presentation of colors, Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem, a reading of the preamble, American’s Creed, music and brief remarks.
Ashmead Chapter organizes the observance annually, with assistance from the local Children of the American Revolution Society and Sons of the American Revolution chapters.
The U.S. Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787, and submitted to the states for ratification.
