Two Vicksburg men were injured during separate assaults Wednesday, and one remained in University Medical Center this morning, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
David Williams, 20, 100 Impala Drive, was in fair condition today, said UMC spokesman Matt Westerfield.
Williams suffered a large cut to the left side of his head during a fight with another man on the closed Clark Street railroad bridge in the 3900 block of Washington Street, Stewart said.
“Witnesses say he was struck with a tire tool,” Stewart said.
Williams was taken to River Region Medical Center by private vehicle at about 11:30 p.m., Stewart said, and then transferred.
No arrests had been made.
Earlier, at about 3:30 p.m., William Marshall, 29, 1730 Martin Luther King Blvd., was taken to River Region with a stab wound just below his collar bone and a broken finger on his left hand, Stewart said.
Marshall was baby-sitting the daughter of Latonya Oneal, 24, 105 Openwood Lane, at his home when she arrived and grabbed his wallet, Stewart said.
The two fought over the wallet, and Oneal struck Marshall with a baseball bat on the left forearm and hand, he said.
“As they continued to struggle, Marshall took the bat,” Stewart said. “Oneal stabbed Marshall with an unknown object in the shoulder.”
The child was in another room, Stewart said. Oneal is wanted for aggravated assault.
Marshall was treated and released, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said.
