Parker, Kemp are wed July 18 in Hattiesburg

John Riley Parker and Cassidy Kemp were married at 6:30 p.m. July 18, 2009, at the Chapel at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. Pastor Jeff Floyd officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Susan and Stanley Kemp of Okinawa, Japan, formerly of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Betty Sones and the late Bobby D. Sones of Purvis and Winnie Mann and the late Chuck Mann of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of Larry and Glenda Parker of Jackson. He is the grandson of Louise Parker and the late Clifton Parker of Yazoo City and the late Vernon and Thelma Easley of Mathiston.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were blue and white.

Nuptial selections were presented by Julio Martinez, violinist, and Heather Wright Odom, soloist.

Matrons of honor were Elizabeth Bice Grey of Jackson and Jenna West Barton of Hattiesburg. Bridesmaids were Katie O’Neal of Jackson, Jill Rogers of Southaven, Amanda Belsom of Hattiesburg and Brooke Martin of Petal.

Honorary bridesmaids were Amelia Gamble and Virginia Gamble, both of Oxford; Elizabeth Gamble and Leslie Elkins, both of Hattiesburg; and Susan Parker of Tupelo.

William Head of Jackson served as best man. Groomsmen were Stephen Wade of Jackson, Brad Lewellyn of Hattiesburg, Jeremy McMillon of Brandon, Will Jenkins of Starkville and Josh Collum of Nashville, Tenn.

Ushers were Cameron Kemp of Okinawa, David Wells of Nashville and Chad Vanderbrook of Moss Point.

Heather Odom of Hattiesburg served as the bride’s proxy.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Rosemary Beach, Fla. They will make their home in Yokosuka, Japan.

The bride is an English teacher for DODEA, and the groom is a graphic designer and art director.

Rehearsal dinner

A rehearsal dinner/fiesta was held at Lake Serene Clubhouse on the eve of the wedding.

Bridesmaids’ luncheon

Kathy Sones Gamble, Betty Sones and Melanie Sones hosted a bridesmaids’ lunch-eon at Canebrake Country Club.

Showers

The bride was honored with a brunch and shower at the home of Rod and Diane Mc-Kenzie. Hostesses were Diane McKenzie, Shirley Strickland, Becky Smith, Denise Touchstone, Karen Cleveland, Susan Barnes and Cindy Creel.
