Mr. Porter and Ms. Hollie are married April 18 in Port Gibson

Julius D. Porter Sr. and Freda R. Hollie were married at 3 p.m. April 18, 2009, at Awesome Christ Warriors Outreach Tabernacle in Port Gibson. The Rev. Chester A. Watts Sr. officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Edward E. Wheeler of Crystal Springs and Barbara Green of Byram. She is the granddaughter of Roberta and Erma Wheeler of Crystal Springs and Ruby Adams of Terry.

The groom is the son of Willie and Beatrice Porter of Port Gibson. He is the grandson of the late Henry and Lela Bruce, the late Matila Booker and the late Willie Porter Sr., all of Port Gibson.

The ACW Choir performed selections for the ceremony. A solo by Erika Wheeler, sister of the bride, was featured. Praise dancers were Courtney Summers, cousin of the bride, and Jamesha Minter, both of Crystal Springs.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were yellow, pink and orange.

Maid of honor was Fran Jackson of Port Gibson. Matrons of honor were Berrica Claiborne, cousin of the bride, of Crystal Springs and Toney Allen, aunt of the bride, of Terry.

Bridesmaids were Marilyn Adams, aunt of the bride, and Latoya Hollie, cousin of the bride, both of Terry; and Victoria Tillman, Jessica Tillman and Krystal Wheeler, all cousins of the bride, Breana Hollie and Brittany Hollie, daughters of the bride, and Ayosho King, Deirdre Young and Rachel Hollie, all of Crystal Springs.

Junior bridesmaids were Erika M. Wheeler, sister of the bride, of Vicksburg and Brkuia Hollie, daughter of the bride, of Crystal Springs.

Flower girls were Junniya Porter, daughter of the bride and groom, and Brailon Chess, cousin of the bride, both of Crystal Springs.

Serving as best men were Louis Bruce, cousin of the groom, of Chicago; Henry Bruce, nephew of the groom, of Port Gibson; and Noah Porter, brother of the groom, of Vicksburg.

Groomsmen were Walter Bruce and Willie Porter III, brothers of the groom, Walter Bruce Jr., nephew of the groom, and Joey Johnson, Curtis Lloyd and Felton Berry, cousins of the groom, all of Port Gibson; Terrance Green, brother of the bride, and Cortez Hollie, brother-in-law of the groom, both of Crystal Springs; and Derrick Jones and Mario Casey, both of Vicksburg.

Junior groomsmen were Kentavis Brown, son of the bride, and Julius Porter Jr., son of the groom, both of Crystal Springs.

Usher was Lee Andrew Jones of Jackson.

Bible carrier was Yorturios Porter, nephew of the groom, of Port Gibson.

Alberta Wheeler, stepmother of the bride, and Brenda Randle, aunt of the bride, served as special wedding assistants.

A reception followed the ceremony at Big D’s Westside Theater in Port Gibson.

Hostesses were Eshia Adams and Kyshia Adams, cousins of the bride, of Crystal Springs.

Guests were entertained with music by DJ “Undertaker” Andre Shannon.

The couple will schedule a wedding trip for a later time.

They will make their home in Vicksburg, where the bride is employed at Wal-Mart SuperCenter and the groom is employed at LeTourneau.
