A Vicksburg teen was in the Warren County Jail Saturday after being charged in a series of burglaries Friday in south Warren County, Sheriff Martin Pace said. Three juveniles also were arrested

Marcus L. Jackson, 17, 226 Manship Circle, and two juveniles were arrested at 1 p.m. near Jackson’s home and faces two counts of burglary of a dwelling and two counts of grand larceny.

The third turned himself in.

The arrests were linked to three residential burglaries reported Friday in the same subdivision, two in the 100 block of South Drive and the third in the 100 block of Pleasant Valley Drive.

Reported stolen were a 9-mm handgun, jewelry, computer equipment and an undisclosed amount of cash. Lead investigator Jeff Crevitt worked on the burglaries Friday night and Saturday, Pace said, resulting in the arrests.

“We have recovered some of the property,” Pace said, “but not the handgun. Most of the cash has been spent.”

Jackson was being held without bond pending an initial hearing Tuesday.

Port Gibson woman held on felony warrants

A Port Gibson woman was in the Warren County Jail on felony warrants from Warren and Claiborne counties.

Cleo Hedrick, 54, 1105 Tillman Chapel Road, was arrested Friday at River Region Medical Center. Hedrick was wanted for passing bad checks, jail records said. Bond had not been set and no further information was available about her arrest.

City man injured in motorcycle wreck

A Vicksburg man was being treated Saturday night at River Region Medical Center after a motorcycle wreck just before 7 p.m., a Warren County Sheriff’s deputy said.

Paul Donovan, 38, 145 Bradford Drive, was traveling south on Fisher Ferry Road on his 2005 Harley-Davidson. Near Southside Baptist church, his mototcycle veered off the road and went into a ravine, said Sheriff Martin Pace. A pair of teenagers in another southbound vehicle came upon the site, where dust and debris were still hanging in the air, Pace said. The teens stopped, spotted the wreck and called for help.

“I really credit them, not necessarily for saving his life but certainly for making things easier for him,” Pace said. “He probably wouldn’t have been visible to other vehicles passing by.”

Separately, wreck on Intersstate 20 at the westbound on-ramp at Clay Street sent two women to the hospital Saturday morning.

Casheka Berry, 29, 1417 Hayes Street, Apt. D, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban and merging onto the interstate around 8:22 a.m., said police Lt. Davey Barnette.

Berry’s vehicle was hit from behind by a silver Chevrolet Malibu, unknown year, driven by Sheila Alexander, 32, 6709 Elizabeth Lane, Fort Worth, Texas. Alexander’s vehicle was on I-20, Barnette said.

Berry and Alexander were taken to River Region Medical Center where they were treated and released, Barnette said.
