PORT GIBSON — Rosa L. Farmer died Friday, April 24, 2009, at Promise Specialty in Vicksburg. She was 73.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Irene Cadney-Marshall; her husband, James Farmer; two sons, Freddie Farmer and Odell Farmer; three sisters, Agnes Harper, Beatrice Cadney and Mary Smith; and one brother, Charles Marshall Sr.
Survivors include her three sons, Danny R. Marshall of Elgin, Ill., James Farmer Jr. of Dallas and Windell Farmer of Vicksburg; six daughters, Lucinda Farmer of Dallas, Esther Rogers, Evelyn Hedrick, Rita Farmer, Lisa Farmer and Angela Farmer, all of Port Gibson; three stepdaughters, Hazel Reed of Fayette, Lucinda Turner and Sadie Wilson, both of Port Gibson; two brothers, Eddie Marshall of Atlanta and Albert Garner of Port Gibson; one sister, Clarice Black of Elgin; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends including Lee Andrew Cadney of Lorman and Matile Cadney of Buffalo, N.Y.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Hugh Johnson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Leon Nelson. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at the funeral home with the family hour from 6 until 7 and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
