Two Vicksburg High powerlifters finished first in their weight class, and five advanced to the Class 4A state meet with a strong showing at Friday’s North State meet.

Kalum Martin won the 308-pound division with a total of 1,570 pounds in the dead lift, squat and bench press. Jeremy Hamlin, a 181-pounder, also finished first with a total of 1,515 pounds. Marcus Allen was third in the 198-pound class, Emmanuel Lofton was third in the 242-pound division, and Jarvis Holmes was third in the super heavyweight class.

Vicksburg totaled 24 points to finish fourth in the team standings. Pearl edged Itawamba AHS for the team title. The Class 4A state meet is April 4 in Jackson.
