Her own locks of love

Nicolette Davis, 16, is donating her hair to Locks of Love, a public nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada. The sophomore at Vicksburg High School said she got the idea to grow out her hair and give it away about a year and a half ago when she saw a young cancer patient in Northpark Mall trying on a wig. “If I had cancer I would want someone to give me hair if I was in that situation,” said Nicolette, who was diagnosed in 1993 with a liver and lung disorder caused by the absence of the enzyme antitrypsin. She also has been diagnosed with mitochondrial myopathy and osteoporosis. (Meredith Spencer*The Vicksburg Post)
