Bettye Jean Bailey

Bettye Jean Bailey was born on May 10, 1945, in Vicksburg. She is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. F.W. Wilson, and John Henry Bailey (paternal father). She was a member of King Solomon M.B. Church. She was a 1963 graduate of Rosa A Temple High School.
Bettye worked at the Vicksburg Country Club for approximately 30 years until retirement. Being the hard-working woman that she was, she returned to the work force by assuming a position with Ameristar Casino for approximately three and a half years, then on to Wal-Mart for five years of service until she fully retired.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, David and Cornelious Proctor; her brother, Albert Lee Wilson; her sister, Shirley M. Wilson; and her nephew, Calvin S. Wilson.
Bettye is survived by her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. F.W. Wilson of Vicksburg; her paternal father, John H. Bailey of Chicago; two daughters, Michele Renee’ Bailey and Vickie Yvonne Bailey, both of Vicksburg; one son, Michael Anthony Bailey of Las Vegas; five brothers, the Rev. Robert Wilson, the Rev. Flem Wilson Jr., and Herman Wilson, all of Las Vegas, the Rev. Joe Wilson of Seattle, and Austin Wilson of Vicksburg; six sisters, Julia M. James, LeVern W. Powell, Dr. Dylinda W. Younger and Cynthia Wilson, all of Vicksburg, Dr. Barbara Wilson of Clinton and Cheryl W. Hall of Memphis; eight grandchildren, Bettye Victoria Banks, Brandon Jackson, Jasmine Eggleston, Mckalen Fausey, Sean Bailey, Jaylah Peaches, Ashleigh Bailey and Shayla Bailey; an aunt, Annie Riles of Las Vegas; an uncle, John L. Davis of Detroit; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Word of Faith Christian Center located at 1201 Grove St. with Reginald L. Walker, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home on Friday from noon until 7 p.m. with the family being present from 6 until 7 p.m.
