All four members of a Vicksburg family, including a 3-day-old baby, were taken to River Region Medical Center after their vehicle flipped and they were forced to climb out Thursday afternoon.

“God will take care of you,” John Cochran said after he helped the rest of his family into an ambulance at about 1 p.m.

Cochran, 22, 20 Post Oak Lane, was backing up his 2000 Jeep Cherokee out of the flow of traffic on U.S. 61 South near just south of Magnolia Street when the shoulder gave way to the rear wheels, Vicksburg Patrolman Eric Paymon said. The vehicle rolled onto its roof.

Why Cochran stopped the southbound vehicle was not clear.

Taken to the hospital with Cochran were his wife, Amber Cochran, 21, and their 4-year-old son, Wade, and 3-day-old daughter, Leah, Paymon said.

The hospital had no record of the family’s being treated, a spokesman said.
