Armed robbery reported at Clay Street store

A man who told a shoe store clerk he had a gun robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of money and ran away on foot.

Vicksburg Police responded at 3:22 p.m. Sunday at Pay-less Shoe Source, 1500 Clay St., and employees said the man, described only as a black male in his 30s about 5-foot-5 and 140 pounds, had told them he had a gun and demanded money, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

No arrest had been made.

Two held after shooting at Culkin

Two Vicksburg men were in the Warren Country Jail this morning after a man was shot in the ear during a disturbance at Culkin ball field on Mount Alban Road.

William Taylor, 19, Eastover Drive, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a shot from a .45 caliber handgun and striking an unidentified person in the ear, said Sheriff Martin Pace.

The victim suffered minor injuries, Pace said.

Cody Butts, 17, 1515 Redwood Road, was charged with accessory after the fact, said Pace.

Butts gave law enforcement misleading information on the incident and aided in the assault, said Pace.

He said more arrests are pending.

Taylor and Butts were being held without bond.

City man jailed for bad checks

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for passing bad checks.

Clyde Judge, 46, 90 Winston Road, was arrested and charged with uttering a forgery, jail records said.

He was being held on a $5,000 bond.

Jewely is missing in burglary on Central

A residential burglary was reported in the city at 1:08 a.m. Sunday.

A sweet 16 platinum ring valued at $2,500, a diamond ring valued at $1,500, two Polo shirts valued at $80 and a pair of Jordan sneakers valued at $120 were reported missing from a home in the 800 block of Central Avenue.

Two ATVs missing in Warren County

Two 4-wheeler ATVs were reported missing in the county during the weekend.

A 2007 blue Yamaha 50 valued at $1,500 was reported missing at 6:35 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 600 block of Tiffintown Road.

A 2003 Honda Foreman valued at $6,500 was reported missing at 1:45 p.m. Sunday from a home in the 100 block of Edgewater Drive.

Tools, stereo missing in two car burglaries

Two auto burglaries were reported in the city during the weekend.

•A Dewalt drill valued at $300, a Stihl skill saw valued at $129, a Milwaukee sawzaw valued at $220, a Makita router valued at $150, a Passload nail gun valued at $300, a Passload framing nail gun valued at $400 and $1,100 were reported missing at 12:40 a.m. Saturday from a 1998 Chevrolet pickup at Ameristar Casino, 4146 Washington St.

•A radio-CD player valued at $350 was reported missing at 11:38 p.m. Saturday from a 1990 Chevrolet in the 4100 block of I-20 Frontage Road.
