John V. Hall

John V. Hall died Monday, March 30, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 85.

Born in Ellisville, Miss., he was the son of the late John Ernest Hall and Ruby Brady Hall. A longtime resident of Detroit, he had lived in Vicksburg since 1992.

Mr. Hall was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army in Germany, Belgium and Northern France. He received the Purple Heart and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars. He was a retired automobile mechanic and a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Storey.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jackie Carlisle Hall of Vicksburg; a brother, Ted Hall of Oregon; and other relatives, including Trudy Smith, Carl Storey and Virgie Adams.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
