The Lady Vikes (23-4) face Greenville-Weston tonight in the Division 4-5A tournament championship game at Provine High School in Jackson. The winner will host a North State satellite game on Monday or Tuesday. WC will also host the Class 5A North State tournament next week if it wins the satellite game, meaning the Lady Vikes can play at home until heading off to the Mississippi Coliseum for the state tournament.

“There’s no pressure (tonight). The good thing is, if we win we come to the house the rest of the way,” WC coach Donny Fuller said.

It won’t be easy, though. Greenville beat Warren Central in their last meeting, and the Lady Vikes also averted a huge upset in the first round of the division tournament, beating Provine 69-66 in overtime.

Provine scored nearly 20 points on short jumpers from the right block. They also got stars Sha’Kayla Caples and Karnina Bunch in foul trouble early.

“We could have come out better. But we did a good job of keeping it close. We didn’t get whupped,” WC’s Ricllie Davis said after Tuesday’s game. Davis had 12 points and seven rebounds. “We’re going to get in the gym and work on some things.”
