Court report|Five sentences handed down in circuit court

In Warren County Circuit Court during the period that ended Wednesday:

* James Allen Wells, 43, 1245 Mount Alban Road, Lot 16, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child desertion and was sentenced Dec. 10 by Judge Isadore Patrick to five years in prison for each count, to be served consecutively, with 60 days to serve followed by 10 years of probation. Wells was also fined $422.50, and ordered to pay restitution to his minor children at $200 per month for 10 years.

* Diego Santiso, 18, 111 Impala St., originally charged Dec. 26 with felony eluding, was released Dec. 30 to immigration authorities by District Attorney Ricky Smith.

* Ar’menn Stewart, 19, 1400 Bowmar Ave., pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana in an amount greater than 30 grams but less than 250 grams and was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Frank Vollor to three years in prison, suspended, with probation. Stewart was fined $1,322.50. He was arrested in September on a charge of sale of a controlled substance.

* Michael Sharp, 48, 450 Burnt House Road, pleaded guilty to grand larceny and was sentenced Tuesday by Vollor to one year in prison with 207 days to serve, probation for the remainder and credit for time served. Sharp was fined $322.50. His sentence stemmed from an Aug. 23, 2007, arrest.

* Thomas Roosevelt, 34, 800 Cherry St., No. A, was found in violation of probation by Patrick and was sentenced Dec. 22 to four years in prison, with three years to serve and one year of probation. Roosevelt’s initial arrest was Dec. 22, 2003, on sale of cocaine.

* Kevin Earl Sanders, 25, 7093 U.S. 61 South, Lot 6, was found in violation of Drug Court requirements and was sentenced Tuesday by Vollor to 10 years in prison. The sentencing stemmed from an Aug. 31, 2004, arrest on a charge of possession of precursor chemicals.
