VHBC awards scholarships to 16 seniors

Winners of the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club scholarships were recognized at the club’s annual scholarship banquet during a celebration Saturday night at St. Mary’s Center. More than $15,000 in scholarships was awarded by the club, which reunites former and current Vicksburg residents and offers various assistance to college-bound students.

The recipients:
• Leashleigh Anderson — Los Angeles Chapter Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in secondary education at Alcorn State University.
• Kaleesia Bowman — Founder’s Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in pre-medicine at Mississippi State University.
• Robert Bunch Jr. — James and Josephine Wallace Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in nursing at Hinds Community College.
• Kelli Clark — Harry Powell Memorial Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi.
• RaShonda Dotson — Alfred Dillard Memorial Book Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in computer science at Hinds Community College.
• Brittney Eubanks — Edward and Ernestine Williams Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in forensic accounting at the University of Southern Mississippi.
• Adrienne Gamble — St. Mary’s Catholic Church Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in accounting at Meridian Community College.
• Brandy Jackson — Wanzie and Josephine Anderson Memorial Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in secondary education at Jackson State University.
• Reva Mace — Percy and Merinda Coleman Memorial Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in nursing at Alcorn State.
• Jeremy Meekins — Beulah Lockett Memorial Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in sports science at Jackson State.
• Chandria Murrell — Strait-Way Church Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in biology at Hinds Community College.
• DaLesia Sanders — Chicago Metropolitan Area Chapter Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in nursing at the University of Southern Mississippi.
• Danielle White — James and Josephine Wallace Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in computer engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi.
• Emily Wildee — Los Angeles Chapter Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in nursing.
• Diamonde Wilkerson — Hattie Knox Memorial Scholarship; Warren Central High graduate, plans to major in accounting at Mississippi State or University of Mississippi.
• Kierra Young — Rosa Queen Memorial Scholarship; Vicksburg High graduate, plans to major in nursing at Alcorn State.
