UTICA — Elsie Martin Carraway died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at her home. She was 68.

Mrs. Carraway was a lifelong resident of Utica. She was a graduate of Utica High School and Alcorn State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. She was formerly employed by the Department of Agriculture in New Holland, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Nowel and Allie Mae Curtis Martin.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy M. Carraway of Utica; two daughters, Christy Wooley of Vicksburg and Kay Walker of Utica; two brothers, Larry A. Martin of Terry and E.H. Martin of Utica; three sisters, Elenor Mathis, Donnie Collins and Eva Augustine, all of Utica; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the funeral home.
