James Wesley Mitchell

PORT GIBSON — James Wesley “Buster” Mitchell died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 61.

A lifelong resident of Port Gibson, Mr. Mitchell worked for 30 years with Pickens Brothers Lumber as a saw filer and was employed by Southern Lumber Co. in Hermanville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Doris Mitchell; and a sister, Mary Lou Bryant.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Mitchell of Port Gibson; three brothers, Bobby Mitchell of Port Gibson, Raymond Mitchell of Vidalia, La., and Dean Mitchell of Sheridan, Ark.; four sisters, Diane Mitchell and Wanda Ward, both of Sheridan, Jean Vines of Sicily Island, La., and Fern Beard of Ferriday, La.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Davidson, Albert Boyd, Jerry Trim, Jason Ledlow, Robert Marsh and Wayne Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Trim and Steve Ward.
