Goodies for garden clubs|More than 100 expected for gathering

The Vicksburg Garden Clubs will be host for a district meeting of Mississippi garden clubs on Thursday at First Presbyterian Church.

More than 100 members from 20 garden clubs in the River Road District of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi are expected. Garden Clubs of Mississippi is a member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs, the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world with 198,595 members in the United States and 500 affiliate national and international members, said Miriam Jabour of Openwood Plantation Garden Club.

State President Gay Austin of McComb, and River Road District Director Nancy Bell will conduct workshops after the meeting for incoming club officers.

Local chairman for the event is Susan Hampton, Town and Country Garden Club.

Other committee members include Janice Koestler and Mary Nell McMaster from Green Hills Garden Club; Toni Stanchfield and Shannon Bell from Hester Flowers Garden Club; Jeanette Ledbetter, Linda Christain and Truus Van Ryswyk from Morning Gardeners Garden Club; Jo Holliday and Jabour from Openwood Plantation Garden Club and Joy Brabston from Town and Country Garden Club.
