A Vicksburg man shot at a Waffle House on East Clay Street early Saturday after a fight over his girlfriend was in River Region Medical Center, and two people were arrested, police said.

The hospital nursing supervisor refused to give a report on the condition Saturday night of the victim, Byron Smith, 31, 1600 Greenhill Road.

Jula Pugh, 21, and DeAnthony Grayson, 21, both of 1416 Greenhill Road, were arrested at 4:39 a.m. Saturday, shortly after the shooting, and charged with aggravated assault, said Vicksburg Police officer Penny Branch. She said a third suspect is being sought.

Branch said the three men argued and then fought inside the all-night restaurant before five shots were fired and Smith was hit.

A handgun believed used was found near the building, Branch said.

Pugh was released from the Warren County Jail on a $75,000 bond and Grayson was held there without bond.

Branch said no other customers were in the restaurant during the shooting.
