Shelby R. Price Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Feb. 28, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 80.

He was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a 1948 graduate of Culkin Academy. He retired from Holsum Bakery after 40 years of service and was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. He enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marguerite Price; his wife, Audrey Strickland Price; a daughter, Audrey Gail Price Walker Trahan; a brother, Sam Price Jr.; and a sister, Lorraine Price Fisher.

Survivors include a son, Shelby R. Price Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Vicksburg; a daughter, Allison Price Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Jackson; two sisters, Betty Price Henson of Germantown, Tenn., and Marguerite Price Flowers of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren Shannon Price, Steven Price, Stanton Price and Lindsay Walker Tackett; and a great-grandchild, Colby James Tackett.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 this evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Price, Stanton Price, Robert Johnson, Damen Tackett and John Wren. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Henson and Robey Evans.
