Erie Viola Sheppard died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.

Mrs. Sheppard was a native of Pelahatchie. She retired as a food supervisor after 17 1/2 years at Kuhn Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Bovina Baptist Church and had lived in Vicksburg since 1957.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Sheppard.

Survivors include her two sons, Thomas A. Sheppard of Thomasville, Ala., and Earnest W. Sheppard of Kilbourne, La.; three daughters, Alice V. Copes, Ethel Katherine Kappler, both of Vicksburg, and Betty Jean Rayborn of Monroe, La.; a sister, Erma J. Adams of Pineville, La.; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Coomes, Charles Hill, Lee Bruce, Bill Arrington, Larry Oakes and Percy Worley.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Bovina Baptist Church.
