Vicksburg felon charged with having weapon

A Vicksburg man remained in the Warren County Jail this morning after his arrest Tuesday on a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon.

Vicksburg police were serving a search warrant for narcotics at the 1708 1/2 Jackson St. home of Willie Wells, 58, when they found a  9mm Jimenez handgun, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

No narcotics were recovered.

Wells was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.

Louisiana woman held for bad check

A Louisiana woman was arrested Tuesday in Lake Providence on a Warren County felony bad check charge.

Sharon Thompson, 40, 1457 Kate St., was being held without bond at the Warren County Jail pending her arraignment in Circuit Court, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Car stolen in city found west of Mound

A car found abandoned on U.S. 80 west of Mound had been reported stolen in Vicksburg less than an hour earlier Tuesday.

A 1993 Buick LeSabre valued at $6,000 had been reported taken from the parking lot of a business at 2150 Iowa Blvd. at 2:21 p.m., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Video games, phone among missing items

Electronics and cash were reported missing in Vicksburg Tuesday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A Sony PlayStation 3 valued at $500 and 20 PlayStation games valued at $40 each were reported stolen from a home in the 3600 block of Oak Street at 5:50 p.m.

About $2 and six CDs valued at $15 each were reported stolen from a 2006 Ford Freestyle in the 1400 block of Washington Street at 9:36 a.m.

A set of Craftsman tools valued at $70, a 20-inch Apex TV valued at $200 and a Nintendo Wii game console valued at $400 were reported stolen from a home in the 4200 block of Interstate 20 Frontage Road at 5:34 p.m.

About $15 and an LG Shine cell phone valued at $150 were reported stolen from a 2007 Toyota Camry in the 100 block of Sunset Street at 6:28 p.m.

ATV, gun, stereo missing in county

Tires, an ATV and a handgun were among items reported missing Tuesday in Warren County, records showed.

Four Super Swamper TSLSX mud tires valued at $800 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Buford Drive at 6:05 a.m.

A 2008 Honda Rancher all-terrain vehicle valued at $7,100 was reported stolen from a home in the 1500 block of U.S. 80 at 6 a.m.

A Ruger .44-caliber Magnum revolver valued at $600 was reported stolen from a Ford F-150 in the 100 block of Cobblestone Drive at 10:15 a.m.

A JVC CD/stereo player valued at $150 was reported stolen and a dashboard valued at $4,000 was reported damaged inside a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado on Culkin Road at 1:52 p.m.

A Mathews mission bow valued at $800 and a Camel backpack valued at $300 were reported stolen from a pickup in the 100 block of Mill Creek Drive at 2:57 a.m.

A portfolio, books and a Texas Instrument calculator were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of Ashwood Drive at 4:08 p.m.
