Melvin David Chambers died Wednesday, July, 29, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 47.

Mr. Chambers was of the Baptist faith. He attended the Vicksburg public schools and served in the Navy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura B. Chambers; and a brother, Bill Chambers.

Survivors include three sisters, Martha Walker, Shirley Chambers, both of Vicksburg, and Jennie C. Jones of Terry; four brothers, John Chambers Jr. of Inglewood, Calif., Eugene Chambers Sr. of Pearl, Fred Chambers of Raymond and Kenneth Anderson of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends including Ernest Walker and the Armstrong family of Vicksburg and the Woods, Nash, Green families of Port Gibson.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
