ROLLING FORK — Samuel Giles died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kan. He was 73.
Mr. Giles was a Rolling Fork resident.
He is survived by a daughter, Loretta Carter of Alexandria, La.; eight sisters, Katherine Caldwell of Vicksburg, Jo Ann Pope of Cleveland, Beatrice Jernigan of Hollandale, Erma Moore of Rolling Fork, Lillie Carr of Sallis, Virginia Carter of Chicago, Venary Nick of Lansing, Mich., and Linda Barfield of Kansas City, Kan.; four brothers, Alfred Lumpkin of Mantee, Spencer Thomas of Stone Mountain, Ga., Robert Thomas of Beaumont, Texas, and Little Thomas Jr.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Thelma L. Atkins Giles of Greenville.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Mount Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Oscar C. Peace officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Church Cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home in Greenville and Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until the service.
