Decorating for Memorial Day

South Park Elementary students Margaret Kent, left, and Kenzie Irons, both 10, and other students and volunteers place American flags Friday on the 18,000 graves at the Vicksburg National Cemetery. The flags will be on display through Monday. Margaret is the daughter of Jay and Jeanne Kent, and Kenzie is the daughter of Jeff and Renee Irons.

• 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. — VNMP rangers, volunteers dressed in war uniforms; history programs; near Visitor Center.

Monday

• 10 a.m. — Parade along Washington Street; begins at Belmont Street, ends at Jackson Street.

• 11 a.m. — Memorial service at City Auditorium, 901 Monroe St.

• 12:30 p.m. — Wreath-laying ceremony at Vicksburg National Cemetery.

• 3 p.m. — National Moment of Remembrance; VNMP.
